Young man arrested near IMT car park in Leiria with drugs and weighing equipment
A 20-year-old student was arrested by PSP in Leiria on suspicion of possessing narcotics near the car park of the Institute of Mobility and Transport (IMT), according to regiaodeleiria.pt.
The arrest took place during a criminal prevention operation. Officers detected a parked vehicle with two young people inside. Upon noticing the police presence, one of the occupants attempted to hide an object he had in his hand — behaviour that triggered immediate intervention by investigators, according to the Leiria District Command of PSP.
Following the approach, 19.12 grammes of hashish, a precision scales and a metal box used for storing the product were seized from the suspect. The detainee, originally from and resident in the Nazaré region, has no known criminal record.
The second occupant of the vehicle, aged 19, was identified, but no illicit substance or other object related to criminal activity was found on him.
The detainee was constituted as a defendant and notified to appear at the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) in Leiria. Following interrogation by the Public Prosecution Service, the case was referred to inquiry.
