A 39-year-old man was arrested by the Judicial Police, accused of murdering a former work colleague with a shotgun blast on 25 May in Silves. The attacker, named Luís Carlos, was dismissed from the construction company in April and blamed the victim, Luís Ventura, 38 years old, for his departure.

Ventura had returned to the firm in January and, according to inquiries, the two had never had a good professional relationship. The suspect planned the attack in advance: he collected a shotgun from a relative's residence and kept it in a garage for several days.

On the day of the crime, the attacker learned that the victim would travel to a construction site to demolish a house. He waited for the right moment and, after a brief argument, fired the shot. The projectile struck the left side of Ventura's head, causing instantaneous death.

The Judicial Police proceeded with the arrest and Luís Carlos was indicted for aggravated murder and possession of a prohibited weapon.
