GNR seizes 400 kg of cocaine in Arrábida Natural Park with aerial support
The GNR intercepted 400 kg of cocaine during an illegal landing on Albarquel beach in Arrábida. One man was detained and 3,960 litres of fuel were seized in Trafaria.
Operation in Arrábida: GNR detains man and seizes 400 kg of cocaine
The Coastal and Border Control Unit (UCCF) of the GNR intercepted 400 kilogrammes of cocaine during an illegal landing in the Arrábida Natural Park in the early hours of Wednesday. The operation, which mobilised maritime, terrestrial and aerial resources, culminated in the detention of one man, as reported by Correio da Manhã.
According to a GNR statement, the alert arose during routine maritime patrols when suspicious movements were detected near Albarquel beach. Terrestrial and aerial reinforcements were immediately deployed to the area.
With the support of the National Traffic Unit, the GNR Command of Setúbal and the Maritime Police, the UCCF managed to intercept 10 bundles of cocaine, totalling 400 kilogrammes. One man involved in the landing process was detained at the scene.
Second seizure in Trafaria in the same early hours
In the same early hours, personnel from the GNR post in Trafaria, in Almada, carried out a second seizure in the same operation. Following the sighting of two high-speed vessels that evaded the authorities' maritime control, the personnel located and seized 198 jerrycans containing 3,960 litres of fuel, as well as two vehicles used in transporting the material.
