Record cocaine seizure at Loulé residence

The Criminal Investigation Unit in Loulé collected a quantity of cocaine corresponding to approximately 1.5 million doses from a residence in the municipality on Friday last week, according to a GNR statement released on Monday and reported by CNN Portugal.

The operation was carried out following a criminal investigation that led GNR officers to the residence, where they located the narcotic substance. During the operation, two packaging machines were also confiscated, along with various materials used for packaging and storing the drug.

The authorities indicated that "investigative proceedings are underway with a view to fully establishing the facts and identifying and locating those responsible".

The operation was supported by officers from the Vilamoura Territorial Post and the Faro Intervention Detachment.

The Algarve constitutes one of the main drug entry zones in the country, particularly via maritime routes.
