At Costinha, authorities intercepted a Land Rover that was transporting several kilograms of cocaine and firearms. The operation was part of a broader investigation into a drug trafficking network with branches in multiple locations.
Throughout the day, GNR teams monitored three properties, including a hostel where several suspects refused to leave for hours. Shortly after 17:00, intervention teams entered the premises and arrested the four men who had barricaded themselves in. Inside, bundles of cocaine and weapons were also seized.
In total, the operation resulted in more than a dozen arrests. Among the suspects are citizens from Antigua and Barbuda, French Guiana, Spain, Morocco and the Dominican Republic.
The exact location of the hostel has not yet been confirmed by the authorities. The operation was still ongoing at the time of publication.
