Google News PT — Crime reports that the GNR arrested 23 people and seized various illicit substances in Beja district between 24 and 30 August, during a week also marked by a fatal accident on roads in the region.
The Beja Territorial Command recorded arrests in flagrante delicto for various offences: nine for driving without legal qualification, six for driving under the influence of alcohol and three for drug trafficking. Individuals were also arrested for resistance and coercion of a public official, disobedience and dangerous driving.
With regard to drug trafficking, the authorities seized 320 doses of heroin, 18 doses of hashish and 3.6 doses of cannabis. The operation also resulted in the seizure of two hunting weapons, 15 rounds of 12-calibre ammunition, three mobile phones, two computers and one motor vehicle.
In terms of road traffic enforcement, the GNR detected 322 offences in the same week. The most frequent cases were 33 for lack of periodic inspection, 28 for speeding, 23 for excess weight and another 23 for excess alcohol.
In total, 57 traffic accidents were recorded in the district, resulting in one fatality, three serious injuries and 22 minor injuries.
