A 60-year-old man was captured shortly after allegedly assaulting and stealing the belongings of another person near a commercial establishment.

The GNR authorities arrested a man in his sixties on Friday night accused of assaulting and robbing another individual in Silves. The incident took place near a supermarket located in the city, where the victim sought help from a security guard at the establishment.
According to Correio da Manhã, before the incident occurred, both individuals involved had apparently shared a meal at a restaurant in the area. Subsequently, when they were already in the vicinity of the retail space, the presumed perpetrator allegedly attacked the other man physically and took possession of his bag, which contained cash, identification documents, debit and credit cards, and a mobile telephone device.
Following the alert, GNR officers launched a search operation that resulted in the capture of the fugitive within minutes. At the time of arrest, the man was carrying all the items that he had allegedly taken from the victim.
The case was handed over to the competent judicial authorities for subsequent legal proceedings.
