The GNR arrested four men, aged between 30 and 33 years old, in the municipality of Palmela, suspected of vehicle theft, assistance with international drug trafficking, possession of prohibited weapons and criminal association, according to cnnportugal.iol.pt.
The operation took place in the Union of Civil Parishes of Poceirão and Marateca, pursuant to a non-residential search warrant. The military personnel proceeded with the detention of the suspects in flagrante delicto.
Among the weaponry seized were an AK-47 machine gun, an AK-74U, a Stribog SP9A1, a Glock pistol calibre 9 mm and a Star pistol calibre 7.62 mm, plus various magazines and ammunition of different calibres.
The authorities also confiscated three light off-road vehicles, a high-end vehicle, a recreation boat, four Yamaha engine kits of 350 horsepower, 645 jerry cans of fuel, various technological equipment and more than 75,000 euros in cash.
The four defendants were presented to the Judicial Court of Setúbal, which applied the precautionary measure of preventive custody to all of them.
