GNR identifies suspect in two fires in Proença-a-Nova; PJ assumes investigation

The GNR identified a presumed perpetrator of the two fires that broke out on Monday in Proença-a-Nova municipality, Castelo Branco district, reported Correio da Manhã. The investigation is being handled by the Judicial Police.
The two fires broke out approximately 12 kilometres apart: the first in Alvito da Beira, at 16:05, and the second in Atalaia, approximately three and a half hours later.
The Guarda Nacional Republicana confirmed the identification of the suspect in a statement sent to Lusa news agency. "The Guarda Nacional Republicana confirms that it is aware of the situation in question [identification of the presumed perpetrator], having carried out, in accordance with the principle of legality, all admissible and necessary police procedures", the military force's statement read.
