A 61-year-old man was detained by the Judicial Police for fatally stabbing his 57-year-old partner in the parish of Ferreiros de Avões, in Lamego.
Suspect turned himself in at GNR post hours after the crime
The Judicial Police detained a 61-year-old man on Thursday, suspected of killing his partner with a razor blade in Lamego municipality, according to observador.pt. The crime occurred in the morning, inside the family home, in the parish of Ferreiros de Avões.
According to the PJ, the investigation began after the suspect himself reported the discovery of the victim's body. At around 15:00 on the same day, the man presented himself at the Lamego GNR post, where he admitted to stabbing his 57-year-old partner.
In a statement, the PJ described how "the fatal assaults occurred following disagreements between the couple, when both were alone in the home". The institution added that the suspect acted "suddenly and unexpectedly", using a razor blade with which he struck the victim until her death.
The detainee has a police record for domestic violence. He will now be subject to judicial questioning, and the investigation will continue under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
