Man convicted to 10 years of effective imprisonment for attempted murder in Alcobaça
The Leiria court imposed a sentence of ten years of effective imprisonment on Francisco Rodrigues, a 54-year-old man who fired shots against his brother-in-law and nephew in the village of Casal dos Ramos, in the municipality of Alcobaça, in April 2025.
The panel of judges found it proven that the assailant acted motivated by family disagreements related to matters of inheritances and divisions. The brother-in-law was left with serious injuries. The shots ceased only when the condemned man's sister placed herself between the assailant and the victims.
During the proceedings, the defendant ultimately admitted that he fired the shots. The sentence was handed down this Tuesday by the Leiria court.
