The Judiciary Police detained a 24-year-old man suspected of attempted aggravated homicide against his partner, aged 31, according to diarioviseu.pt. The arrest was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department of Setúbal.
The facts occurred last Friday at 06:00, inside the residence shared by the couple, in the municipality of Moita. "Motivated by jealousy, the suspect used a large kitchen knife and inflicted several blows to the victim's body, causing him various injuries that put his life in danger," the Judiciary Police explained in a statement.
The victim had to undergo two blood transfusions to compensate for the blood loss suffered.
The suspect will be brought before a first judicial interrogation as a detained defendant, for the purposes of applying precautionary measures.
