A 42-year-old woman presented herself at Cascais PSP police station with an injured face and her body covered in bruises, triggering an investigation that culminated in the arrest of her partner, a 27-year-old man. Correio da Manhã reports that the suspect beat her on various occasions and is now in preventive custody, by order of the court.

The couple shared the same residence. According to the account given by the victim to authorities, the man was jealous and suspicious from the start of the relationship. At one point, he threatened to kill her, delivered a hard headbutt and grabbed her by the arms, leaving visible marks on her body.

Attack in a bar and strangulation at home

The most recent episode occurred last month, when the aggressor followed his partner to a nighttime entertainment establishment. Upon seeing her talking with a friend, he punched her on the head from behind and dragged her by the hair. The intervention of witnesses present at the venue, who immobilised the man, interrupted the attack.

The violence did not stop at the establishment. Back home, the aggressor strangled the victim until she nearly lost consciousness.

Based on the set of assaults reported, PSP investigators requested a search and arrest warrant from the court against the suspect. After being brought before a judge, the 27-year-old man was placed in preventive custody.
