Suspect groomed minors on social media and used threats to obtain more content
The Judicial Police of the Central Region arrested a 28-year-old man on Saturday suspected of child pornography crimes, according to CNN Portugal. At least 12 girls have been identified as victims.
In a statement, the PJ indicated that the investigation gathered evidence that strongly suggests the suspect acted repeatedly during the years 2025 and 2026, contacting the victims through social media.
Following this initial contact, the girls were directed to messaging applications, where the suspect seduced and groomed them into sending photographs and videos of explicit sexual content. With this material in his possession, the man pressured the minors to send more content, threatening to distribute the images already obtained to family members, the school community, and on social media.
In the course of the searches, numerous computer files containing child pornography were seized.
After the first judicial interrogation, the detainee was required to report weekly to the authorities and prohibited from contacting minors under 18 years of age. Internet access is restricted to the exercise of his professional activity.
