31-year-old man from Brazil arrested in Lisbon to serve six-year prison sentence
Investigators from the Criminal Information Unit of the Judicial Police arrested a 31-year-old citizen who worked as a driver in the city of Lisbon. The detainee, who holds Brazilian nationality, was on the run to escape a six-year prison sentence imposed by a court due to conduct of sexual assault and domestic abuse, with aggravating circumstances.
The man had been residing in national territory since 2020, with his stay having been legalised with the competent authorities. After being identified and apprehended by officers in the Lisbon metropolitan area, he was taken to a penitentiary institution, where he will begin serving the sentence that no longer admits appeal.
