77-year-old man remanded in custody for assaulting woman in Porto
A 77-year-old man was arrested by PSP officers in Porto on suspicion of continued domestic violence against his 69-year-old partner. After being brought before a court, he was remanded in custody. The news was reported by Correio da Manhã.
The arrest took place on Monday. Officers gathered strong evidence of a pattern of "physical and psychological violence" by the defendant towards the woman. In one of the most recent incidents, the victim was assaulted to the point of requiring medical assistance.
After protective measures were applied to the victim, the PSP proceeded with the arrest of the suspect. He was taken to court, where he was remanded in custody.
