Arrested for kidnapping and aggravated threats following abduction linked to trafficking

A 33-year-old man was arrested by the Judicial Police in Lisbon following a kidnapping that occurred in September 2025 in Freamunde. According to Correio da Manhã, the suspect kept a person immobilised and under threat of a weapon, with the aim of obtaining the whereabouts of a third party who owed him several hundred euros from drug sales.

The kidnapped victim was a friend of the debtor. The attacker demanded that he reveal, under coercion and with the use of a weapon, where the man who owed him the money was located. The situation was resolved when the debtor ended up settling the amount in question through an MB Way transfer.

The detainee, a construction worker, had previously been arrested by the GNR in possession of narcotics. He was brought before a court on suspicion of kidnapping, assault, coercion and aggravated threats, as well as possession of a prohibited weapon. Cocaine and cannabis resin were found inside his residence. The court ordered his release.
