As reported by CNN Portugal, a man was arrested on Sunday evening at Avenida Dom Manuel I in Setúbal after attempting to force his way into his ex-partner's home and threatening her with a knife.

The suspect reportedly appeared at the door of the victim's residence and attempted to force entry against her will. During the incident, he also brandished the blade in the direction of the woman. The PSP intercepted the man at the scene.

The knife was later found in a common area inside the building.

The arrest was made as part of proceedings for domestic violence. The suspect is due to appear before a judge within the next 48 hours, so that measures of restraint can be determined. These may range from a signed promise to appear and residence order to preventive detention, the most serious measure provided for under the law.
