A 37-year-old man was arrested by the PSP in Vila Franca de Xira, charged with domestic violence, aggravated threats and robbery, according to Correio da Manhã. The suspect has an extensive history of crimes committed with violence and was remanded in custody.
The police intervention that resulted in the arrest began with an assault that forced the victim to receive hospital care. The suspect assaulted the victim with a steam iron. During the operation, weapons and the steam iron used in the assaults were seized from him.
The man was already previously charged in connection with a robbery that occurred on the 12th, in which he allegedly assaulted and threatened to kill another person, forcing them to withdraw 200 euros.
