PSP arrested a 35-year-old man on Rua de Cedofeita in Porto for domestic violence. The victim, 40 years old, was prevented from leaving the house and sent messages to a friend asking for help.
Man arrested in Porto for domestic violence against woman
The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a 35-year-old man on Monday morning in the Rua de Cedofeita area in Porto on suspicion of the crime of domestic violence against his wife.
According to the Porto Metropolitan Command, officers were alerted to an ongoing domestic violence situation. Upon arriving at the scene, they found that the woman, aged 40, was locked inside the dwelling, unable to open the door or leave.
The victim had sent several messages to a friend, indicating that her life was in danger. Faced with the lack of response and a refusal to open the door, PSP officers decided to force entry into the residence to assist the woman and arrest the aggressor.
The man was subsequently heard in court, where he was given a restraining order keeping him away from the marital home and prohibiting him from contacting the victim.
