A 31-year-old man was arrested by the GNR in Salvaterra de Magos after stealing 600 euros from a cash register and assaulting one of the business owners. The suspect was placed under house arrest following questioning in Santarém.

According to radiohertz.pt, the Guarda Nacional Republicana (National Republican Guard) in Salvaterra de Magos arrested a 31-year-old man for violence during theft at a commercial establishment.

Following a complaint, GNR officers travelled to the location and established that the suspect took advantage of the business owners' distraction to remove money from the cash register. During his escape, he violently pushed one of the victims, knocking her to the ground and causing injuries that required hospital treatment.

Officers located the individual in the vicinity of the establishment, in possession of the 600 euros stolen.

The man was brought before an initial judicial interrogation at the Santarém Court of Justice, where he was issued the custodial measure of house arrest.
