The GNR arrested a 47-year-old man in the municipality of Sines on 27 August on suspicion of drug trafficking, according to Google News PT — Crime (pt). The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) of the Territorial Detachment of Santiago do Cacém, integrated into the Territorial Command of Setúbal.
The action was prompted by the prior collection of information that led officers to identify a rural area in the municipality frequented by drug users. During patrol, the officers detected an individual who exhibited suspicious behaviour upon the presence of the Guard.
Following a security pat-down search, a significant quantity of drug product and cash in hand were found in the suspect's possession. The operation resulted in the seizure of 368 doses of cocaine, 132 doses of heroin, 855 euros and two mobile phones.
The detainee remained at GNR facilities until 28 August, the date on which he was brought before the Judicial Court of Setúbal for initial judicial questioning and the application of appropriate precautionary measures.
