Clarisse Paulo, aged 73, was killed in her home in Mafra this Sunday, at the hands of her own 24-year-old grandson. The crime was committed with a knife. The alert reached the GNR at around 06:30, which subsequently activated the Judicial Police.
The victim was the owner of a barbecue restaurant in Milharado and had been living with her grandson for some time. According to information obtained by Correio da Manhã from a source close to the family, Clarisse was described as a shoulder to cry on and a safe haven for the young man.
The suspect has a past linked to the consumption of alcohol and drugs and attended a rehabilitation centre. In the month before the crime, the young man reportedly attempted suicide, and the grandmother had sought help several times, according to the same source.
