The GNR arrested a 22-year-old young man in Beja on suspicion of drug trafficking. The officers seized approximately one thousand doses of heroin, money and a motor vehicle.

A 22-year-old individual was arrested in Beja on suspicion of involvement in the illegal trade of psychotropic substances. The arrest took place on Wednesday, when a GNR patrol noticed a motor vehicle behaving suspiciously as it circulated through the city.
During the approach, the officers detected an intense odour characteristic of drugs coming from inside the vehicle. Given this circumstance, they proceeded to search the driver and carry out a thorough inspection of the motor vehicle.
In the course of the operation, the authorities found and seized approximately one thousand doses of heroin. In addition to the drugs, €65 in cash, a mobile phone and the vehicle itself used by the suspect were also retained.
The detainee was taken to court on Thursday. The magistrate decided that the young man should report daily to the nearest GNR post to his home.
