The Judicial Police arrested a 17-year-old strongly suspected of aggravated attempted murder, which occurred on 1 September in the municipality of Loures, according to rr.pt. Following the first court hearing, the suspect was remanded in custody.
According to a statement from the PJ, the events took place in an isolated location, where the young person allegedly attacked the victim — a 14-year-old minor — using a bladed weapon. The suspect is said to have inflicted multiple blows to the head area, causing stab and incised wounds and extremely serious cranial trauma.
The victim is hospitalised and in a coma, with a "very guarded prognosis", according to the Judicial Police.
The inquiries carried out by the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo Directorate made it possible to gather sufficient evidence to identify, locate and arrest the suspect. The PJ also indicates that the victim and suspect were friends, with the motive for the crime remaining to be clarified.
The investigation is being directed by the Public Prosecutor's Office for the District of Northern Lisbon — Loures.
