The Judicial Police detained a 20-year-old for the alleged commission of a homicide that occurred in the early hours of today in the parish of Vermoim, in the municipality of Maia, according to Google News PT — Crime (pt).
The victim, aged 50, was the suspect's stepfather. The facts occurred inside the residence where both lived.
According to the evidence gathered, the suspect and the victim had a disagreement, and the young man picked up a bladed weapon and struck the stepfather in the chest and abdominal region, allegedly in self-defence and in defence of his mother.
Following the incident, the suspect left the house in a disoriented state. The victim called the police for help by telephone, but died as a result of the severity of his injuries.
Later, knowing that he was being sought by the authorities, the young man voluntarily presented himself to the police, and was subsequently detained by the Judicial Police and taken to the prison facility attached to the police.
The detainee will be brought before a judge tomorrow for an initial judicial interrogation for the application of the coercive measures deemed appropriate.
