Suspect in Maia homicide turns himself in to police in Porto after confessing crime to girlfriend

A 20-year-old man killed his mother's partner with a knife in Maia, in Porto, and immediately called his girlfriend to confess the crime, according to Google News PT on the basis of information from Correio da Manhã.

The girlfriend went to meet the suspect. At the location, the young man showed her the knife used in the homicide, which he subsequently abandoned a few metres from the neighbourhood where he lived.

The two then caught a bus heading to Avenida dos Aliados, in Porto. After wandering around the area for some time, the suspect decided to turn himself in to the authorities. It was his girlfriend who contacted the police to indicate the young man's exact whereabouts.

A police team immediately travelled to Praça Dom João I, where the suspect was located and detained. The young man appeared on Monday in Matosinhos Court to be informed of the precautionary measures.
