A 22-year-old man was apprehended by investigators from the Judicial Police in Setúbal, with assistance from the local GNR, for firing at an automobile in which two individuals were travelling. The incident occurred early in the morning on 7 March, outside a nightclub in the city of Montijo.

According to the authorities, the detainee and the two victims, aged 26 and 27, had a disagreement inside the entertainment venue. Later, in the street, the young man fired three shots in the direction of the car in which the two were travelling. No one was injured, but police believe the attacker intended to cause serious harm.

The investigation was prolonged due to difficulty in locating the suspect, who was ultimately captured on Monday. The individual had a criminal record for drug-related offences and aggravated assaults. He was brought before a court, where he was charged with attempted aggravated homicide and illegal possession and use of a prohibited weapon. The judge remanded him in custody.
