A 24-year-old man has been arrested by Portimão's PJ, suspected of accessing, possessing and sharing child sexual abuse material, following an international alert.

The police authorities in Portimão carried out the arrest of a 24-year-old man, resident in the Lagoa area, in the Algarve. The arrest resulted from a warning issued by international entities, which alerted authorities to the individual's criminal activity.
Throughout the investigation, inspectors from the Judicial Police were able to establish that, since at least 2023, the suspect had accumulated, viewed and distributed, through digital means, sexual material involving children and adolescents.
The detainee will now be brought before the competent judge for an initial hearing, at which point measures of restraint will be decided.
