A 24-year-old was detained on Sunday on suspicion of murdering his 73-year-old grandmother in the locality of Milharado, in the municipality of Mafra, district of Lisbon. The detention was confirmed by sources from the Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) and the Polícia Judiciária (PJ), according to rr.pt.
Authorities received the alert at 06:30 on Sunday morning. The GNR told the Lusa agency that it proceeded with the detention of a 24-year-old man on suspicion of the crime of murder.
The PJ, which assumed investigation of the case, indicated it was a matter of "a young man who allegedly stabbed his grandmother" at the elderly woman's residence in Mafra, without providing further details about the circumstances of the crime.
