The PSP arrested a young man in Amadora, suspected of crimes against freedom and sexual self-determination, theft, assault and the possession and use of a bladed weapon, according to CNN Portugal.
Authorities were alerted to a situation of violence involving an individual armed with a large kitchen knife. Upon arrival at the scene, a witness informed officers that they had heard cries for help and seen the suspect leaving the building with the weapon.
According to CNN Portugal's findings, the young man had entered the victim's residence and, under threat of a bladed weapon, made threats and adopted behaviour of a sexual nature. When the victim attempted to resist and seek help, they were assaulted with punches and headbutts, and also sustained a cut to one of their arms.
In an attempt to escape police intervention, the suspect climbed onto several roofs. One of them gave way, causing him to fall. Injured, he was transported to hospital. The victim also received medical assistance and was taken to a hospital unit.
The arrested man will be brought before a judge for his first judicial hearing this Friday for the application of precautionary measures.
