Robber injures shopkeeper and PSP officer before being detained in Amadora
A 22-year-old man was remanded in custody after hitting a PSP officer with an electric scooter during his escape from a robbery at a commercial establishment in Amadora, according to reports in Correio da Manhã.
The robbery took place at 04:30 on Thursday. The owners of the establishment noticed the intruder's presence and intervened. The suspect assaulted one of the owners before fleeing, leaving him injured. The victim required hospital treatment.
In his haste to flee, the robber left behind a backpack containing an identification document. At 10:00 on the same day, he returned to the scene with the aim of retrieving his belongings. The owners recognised him and immediately contacted the PSP.
The suspect fled again, this time on an electric scooter, and hit a uniformed officer during the escape. The police officer suffered injuries that also required hospital treatment. The escape, however, was short-lived: another police patrol intercepted and arrested the young man shortly afterwards.
Brought before the court, the defendant was remanded in custody. The PSP also managed to recover part of the goods stolen during the robbery.
