The Public Prosecutor has accused members of the Lusitanian Armillary Movement (MAL) of belonging to a terrorist organisation of neo-Nazi character, which for over five years incited extreme violence against minorities and manufactured weapons.

The Public Prosecutor has brought charges against members of the Lusitanian Armillary Movement (MAL), a neo-Nazi organisation, for terrorism offences. The group, over a period of more than five years, incited extreme violence against minorities and went so far as to manufacture weapons, which were subsequently commercialised.
The investigation revealed that the group had more than 200 people in its sights, including Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, whom they planned to attack. The news was reported by Correio da Manhã.
Members of MAL are accused of belonging to a terrorist organisation, a crime provided for and punished under the Portuguese Penal Code. The Public Prosecutor's charges represent a significant step in combating right-wing extremism in Portugal.
The investigation took place over several months and made it possible to gather evidence about the group's activities, including the manufacture and sale of weapons, as well as the planning of violent actions against specific targets.
