TVDE driver detained in Porto over attempted murder by vehicle ramming
A 33-year-old man was detained by the PJ suspected of ramming two customers following a confrontation in Porto in April. The detained man also had dozens of counterfeit bank cards.
TVDE driver rams customers after argument and is detained months later
The Judicial Police detained a 33-year-old man on Thursday with strong indications of attempted qualified murder, according to an announcement by the PJ on Friday. As reported by Google News PT — Crime (pt), the suspect is a TVDE vehicle driver and allegedly deliberately rammed two customers following an argument on 12 April in a public thoroughfare in Porto.
The detention occurred "following execution of search warrants and detention warrants", the PJ explained in a statement. One of the two men rammed "suffered injuries of particular severity".
After the ramming, the suspect approached the victims with a bladed weapon. He did not use it only because bystanders at the scene intervened and disarmed him, according to the same police note.
At the time of detention, the authorities found in the man's possession approximately three dozen counterfeit bank cards, card readers — designated 'skimmers' — and other computer equipment. The suspect is thus also charged with the crime of counterfeiting cards or other payment devices.
The detained man will be presented to the competent judicial authority for initial court interrogation and application of appropriate measures of restraint.
