The Public Prosecutor's Office in Évora has brought charges against a 67-year-old Portuguese national for committing 14 thefts, seven of which were aggravated. The crimes took place in the city of Évora, with motor vehicles and local commercial businesses as targets. The news was released by the Regional General Prosecutor's Office of Évora and reported by Correio da Manhã.
The facts date back to the period between August 2025 and May 2026. According to the Public Prosecutor, the defendant engaged in these criminal activities as a means of subsistence, having no professional occupation or other sources of income.
The Évora PSP effected the arrest of the suspect in May. After being heard in court, the man was initially placed in pre-trial detention, a measure that was later changed to an obligation to remain at his residence with electronic monitoring.
The Public Prosecutor further requested the forfeiture to the State of the illicit proceeds obtained by the defendant.
The case was conducted by the DIAP of Évora, with the support of the local PSP. The deadline for any potential request for preliminary investigation is ongoing; in the absence of such a request, the case will be sent for trial.
