Arrested while attempting to smuggle drugs to son in Porto jail
A 66-year-old woman was arrested by the Judicial Police when she attempted to introduce narcotics into the Porto Penal Establishment, according to noticiasaominuto.com.
The suspect was intercepted as she was attempting to circumvent the prison's security measures. The Prison Guard Corps identified a package hidden in her body, which the woman intended to deliver to her son — an inmate at that facility — during the visiting period.
The Judicial Police found inside the package more than 50 grammes of cannabis resin and 60 grammes of cocaine, an amount considered sufficient for the production of hundreds of individual daily doses.
The arrested woman is implicated in the crime of drug trafficking in aggravated form. She will be brought before the first judicial interrogation for the application of the respective precautionary measures.
