The Judicial Police (PJ) detained two workers at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon on Friday as part of the so-called Operation Falcon. As noticiasaominuto.com reported, the two men, aged 46 and 48, are Portuguese citizens suspected of being part of a criminal network dedicated to introducing large quantities of cocaine into Europe.
According to a statement issued by the PJ on Saturday, the detained men provided services to companies supplying Lisbon airport and allegedly used commercial flights from Latin America to transport the drugs to the European continent.
In the course of the operation, approximately 110 kilograms of cocaine in the possession of the suspects was seized, along with approximately 200,000 euros in cash, several vehicles and other objects and documents of interest to the investigation, according to the PJ.
The two men were brought before the first judicial interrogation on Saturday, before the competent judicial authority for the application of a precautionary measure. The investigation is being conducted by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) in Lisbon.
