Employer accused of killing domestic worker with concrete block in Amadora
Ilderlane Ferreira has been accused by the Public Ministry of four criminal offences, including qualified homicide, after taking the life of Lucinete Freitas, a domestic worker who cared for her baby. The victim died after being struck four times on the head with a 25 kg construction brick. The events occurred on 5 December 2025, in the Amadora area.
The domestic worker had begun working for the couple around the middle of last year, during a period when Ilderlane and Hélder Ferreira's marriage was already experiencing marital crisis. Disagreements between the spouses were recurrent and Lucinete ended up strengthening bonds of trust with Hélder, a situation that allegedly provoked strong feelings of jealousy in the woman.
According to the magistrate in the case, the suspect purchased a prepaid mobile phone card and created a fictitious identity on an instant messaging service, impersonating an acquaintance of the deceased. Through this stratagem, Ilderlane gained access to Lucinete's message exchanges and found that she was making unfavourable judgements about her. Consumed by a desire for revenge, she devised a plan to eliminate the employee.
On the afternoon of the crime, the defendant entrusted her son, less than twelve months old, to a neighbour. At around 18:00, when Lucinete was preparing to return home after work, the aggressor intercepted her and forced her into the boot of a rental vehicle, where she was carrying a kitchen knife. She drove the victim to a deserted location. In a physical confrontation, Lucinete was struck with the stone block.
The body was only discovered a week later, on 12 December. The presumed perpetrator of the crime was captured days later and remains in preventive custody at the Tires female prison establishment.
In addition to qualified homicide, Ilderlane is also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, desecration of a corpse and computer fraud. The prosecution has also requested the payment of monetary compensation to the legal successors of the victim. Lucinete left a spouse and a fourteen-year-old adolescent, who were keen to join her on national territory.
The defence counsel, Pedro Pestana, argues that the psychiatric report should have been considered before the charges were brought. He contends that the findings will prove the effects of post-partum depression and delusional disturbances that, in his view, conditioned the defendant's behaviour.
