Police detain two individuals for threats with bladed weapons in Greater Lisbon
On Saturday night, officers from the Lisbon PSP Command arrested two men accused of threatening people on the street with bladed weapons.
The first case occurred around 21:30, on Rua Elias Garcia, near Babilónia Shopping Centre, in Amadora. Police were called after receiving complaints about men intimidating passers-by. Uniformed and plainclothes officers identified one of the suspects. Following a search of his home, four sabres were found, three of them of considerable size. The individual was placed under detention.
The second case occurred at 22:53, on Avenida Professor Egas Moniz, opposite Santa Maria Hospital, in the capital. A man, who appeared to be a patient who had escaped from the psychiatric ward of that hospital unit, was apprehended by several police teams whilst carrying a bladed weapon. After dropping the weapon, he was immobilised and detained. He was subsequently taken back to the hospital.
