Patrols from the PSP division in Vila Franca de Xira detained five drivers between 29 and 31 August for traffic offences, according to Correio da Manhã. The accused are aged between 21 and 42 years.

According to a PSP statement, two of those detained were driving without a licence and a third was caught with a forged version of the same document. The remaining two were intercepted for driving with a blood alcohol level deemed criminal.

The two drivers caught while intoxicated, aged 28 and 42, recorded 1.70 g/l and 1.36 g/l of alcohol in their blood respectively—levels above the threshold from which driving constitutes a criminal offence in Portugal.
