PSP arrests two men for trafficking synthetic drugs in Madeira, €68,000 seized
Two men aged between 35 and 38 years were arrested in Madeira for drug trafficking. The operation resulted in the seizure of more than 120 grams of synthetic drug and €68,000.
Two arrested in Machico following nearly two-year investigation into synthetic drugs
The Criminal Investigation Unit of Machico's Police Division arrested, on Thursday, 3 September, two men from and resident in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, aged between 35 and 38 years, for the crime of drug trafficking. The operation was conducted by the PSP's Regional Command for Madeira.
According to dnoticias.pt, the arrest resulted from an investigation lasting approximately one year and nine months, focused on synthetic drug trafficking in Machico municipality. The PSP stated in a statement that the activity was "causing high social alarm among the population, with growing concern regarding this phenomenon in that area."
In the course of domestic and non-domestic searches carried out, authorities seized more than 52 grams of synthetic drug known as "Bloom", more than 12 grams of another synthetic substance called "Gorby", more than €68,000 in cash, 11 motor vehicles — including a high-end vehicle — three mobile phones and a safe.
The two arrested men were brought before a non-judicial interrogation, and were applied the measure of a signed promise of appearance and residence.
