PSP detains man with 20 kg of drugs hidden in pans at Lisbon airport
A 61-year-old passenger was detained at Humberto Delgado Airport with 20.55 kg of synthetic drugs concealed in kitchen utensils, after arriving from Rio de Janeiro.

PSP detained a 61-year-old man on Sunday, 30 August, at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, in possession of 20.55 kilograms of synthetic drugs hidden in pans, lids, serving dishes and wooden spoons, according to Correio da Manhã.
The suspect, of foreign nationality, arrived in Lisbon on a flight from Rio de Janeiro. He was flagged for more thorough inspection after officers detected inconsistencies in the statements he gave about the duration of his stay in the Schengen Area.
The National Border and Immigration Unit (UNEF) of the PSP, which carried out the detention, identified in the passenger's luggage "several items apparently intended for domestic use", whose composition and characteristics raised suspicions among inspectors.
The objects were submitted for analysis by X-ray equipment, which revealed the presence of organic material inside the items. Subsequent analyses confirmed it was synthetic drugs, totalling 20.55 kilograms.
The detainee awaits presentation before a judge to determine the precautionary measures applicable to the crime of drug trafficking.
