Fourth suspect in postal trafficking network arrested by PJ in Porto
Authorities arrested another member of a criminal organisation dedicated to sending narcotics through the post. The individual, aged 30 and residing in the city of Porto, was captured by the Judicial Police following an investigation that has been ongoing since last year.
The origins of the case date back to the discovery of a suspicious package at a CTT counter located in the municipality of Maia. The package contained approximately half a kilogramme of cannabis and was destined for the Netherlands. From this discovery, investigators began work that enabled them to dismantle part of the structure.
To date, four members of the organisation have been identified and arrested. Three of them had been detained in December previously. Now, with the capture of this latest suspect, the investigation makes another step forward.
The court decided to release the defendant on condition of compliance with restrictive measures. Among them, notable are the obligation to report to authorities twice a week, the prohibition on contacting the other detainees, and the surrender of travel documents.
The investigation remains open, according to reporting by Jornal SOL.
