Four detained in north-east Portugal in anti-drug operations
Police forces detained four individuals in Bragança and Mirandela. Three men were caught with illicit substances, including cocaine, heroin and cannabis resin. A woman was captured pursuant to an international judicial order for theft committed in Brazil.
Four detained in north-east Portugal in anti-drug operations
Police Service (PSP) officers carried out four arrests over the weekend in the cities of Bragança and Mirandela. In three cases, the reasons relate to the trafficking of prohibited substances. The fourth case involves a capture warrant issued by foreign authorities.
On Saturday, in Bragança, a citizen in his fifties was apprehended by authorities. During the operation, officers recovered several doses of cocaine, heroin and cannabis resin, totalling slightly more than 17 grammes.
The following day, in Mirandela, an individual aged 52 was likewise arrested. This time, police seized a significant quantity of cannabis resin — approximately half a kilogramme — as well as cocaine and heroin, totalling around 542 grammes of illicit products.
Also on Sunday, in Bragança, a man aged 57 was detained. During the intervention, slightly more than 12 grammes of cocaine were recovered. The three detainees will be brought before magistrates for determination of the precautionary measures to be applied.
The fourth arrest occurred on Friday, in Mirandela, when officers executed an international warrant. A woman aged 54, sought in connection with a robbery in Brazil, was arrested. She will be taken to the Court of Appeal in Guimarães for the necessary procedural formalities.
Cooperation with INTERPOL was managed by the Criminal Investigation Department of the PSP, together with the investigation team of the regional Command.
