Four arrested for drug trafficking in Albufeira in GNR operations
Security forces arrested four suspects in the Algarve municipality over two days. Confiscated material included thousands of euros, doses of cocaine and hashish.
Four arrested for drug trafficking in Albufeira in GNR operations
The Guarda Nacional Republicana carried out two separate operations in the municipality of Albufeira within a period of just 48 hours, resulting in the arrest of four people on suspicion of illicit drug trafficking. The goods were largely intended for the region's tourist market.
In the first intervention, which took place on a Thursday, officers from the local Criminal Investigation Unit, assisted by the Faro Intervention Detachment and the Intervention Unit, entered a residential property. At the location, they arrested a 24-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman. The search yielded more than four hundred doses of cocaine, seventy portions of hashish, seventeen units of cannabis, various electronic equipment, a large bladed weapon, approximately eleven thousand six hundred euros, almost one thousand pounds sterling and two vehicles. The pair were subsequently brought before a judge, who imposed the obligation to present themselves regularly to the authorities.
The previous Tuesday, two individuals aged 46 and 53 were likewise captured in a similar operation. In their possession, officers found several hundred doses of cocaine, a razor, pieces of jewellery, half a dozen mobile phones and 785 euros. The court imposed a more serious measure of coercion for these suspects, who remain in custody awaiting trial.
