11-year-old boy stabs father in Lisbon to protect mother from assault
A minor aged 11 wounded his father with a knife in São Domingos de Benfica after the father assaulted the mother. The PSP found the child sitting on the stairs with the weapon in his hand.

An 11-year-old boy stabbed his father, aged 61, in the early afternoon of Tuesday at the family home in São Domingos de Benfica, Lisbon. According to Correio da Manhã, the minor acted to stop the assaults that the father was inflicting on the mother, aged 42.
The alert reached the PSP at 12:45. When the patrol arrived at the location, they found the boy sitting on the stairs of the building where the incident had occurred, with the weapon still in his hand.
The father had wounds on an arm and a leg. A fire brigade team provided him with assistance at the scene, with no need for hospital transport.
The minor was taken by the PSP to Benfica police station. The Public Prosecutor's Office attached to a family and minors court will be notified of the facts by the authorities.
