At least six people were arrested this afternoon in Lisbon, near Parliament, following clashes with police at the end of a CGTP protest, according to reports from jornaleconomico.sapo.pt.
Those arrested are charged with disobedience, resistance and coercion of a public official. Superintendent Resende da Silva, head of the Lisbon Metropolitan Command (Cometlis) of the police, told journalists that at approximately 20:00, those arrested were being identified and would subsequently be heard in an initial court hearing for the application of coercive measures.
The same source did not disclose the ages of those arrested, given that the identification process was still underway at the time of the statement.
Another police source admitted to Lusa that those arrested could also face charges for criminal damage, owing to the fact that they had set fire to rubbish bins and hurled glass bottles and other blunt objects at officers. Several police officers sustained minor injuries during the incidents.
