The incident in question occurred in a nightclub in the city of Viseu. During a dispute that broke out inside the establishment, the alleged assailant struck the victim in the neck region using a broken glass as a weapon.
The severity of the injuries caused prompted the opening of a criminal case for attempted murder. The suspect then left national territory, taking refuge in Switzerland, where he was eventually located and detained by local authorities.
The extradition was successfully completed, allowing the accused to now appear before Portuguese courts to answer for the facts alleged against him. International cooperation between the authorities of both countries was fundamental to the conclusion of this extradition process.
