Drug trafficking in Peniche: three arrested with 635 doses and machete
The PSP arrested two men and a woman in Peniche for drug trafficking, seizing 635 doses of cannabis, cocaine, hashish and MDMA.
Operation in Peniche results in three arrests for trafficking and remand in custody for all
The Leiria District Command of the PSP arrested two men, aged 27 and 39, and a woman, aged 30, in Peniche for drug trafficking, according to Correio da Manhã. The operation took place last Wednesday and resulted in the seizure of 635 individual doses of drugs.
The Peniche Police Station executed two house search warrants and three arrest warrants outside of flagrante delicto, within the scope of an investigation process delegated by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) of Peniche.
Drugs, weapons and equipment seized
The seized substances include cannabis, cocaine, hashish and MDMA, as well as cutting agent. In addition to the drugs, police seized 570 euros in banknotes and coins, two scales, bags for packaging individual doses and various IT and electronic equipment.
Among the confiscated items were also a pepper spray, a machete and a baseball bat.
Fourth detainee and two women referred for dissuasion
During the operation, a 22-year-old man was also arrested for insulting law enforcement officers. Two women, aged 37 and 44, were identified for possession of hashish and cocaine and referred to the Commission for Drug Addiction Dissuasion.
36 police officers deployed
The operation involved the participation of 36 officers from the Leiria District Command, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command and the Special Police Unit.
Remand in custody applied in Leiria
The three trafficking suspects appeared for their first judicial interrogation on Friday, in Leiria. The judge applied the most serious coercive measure — remand in custody — and the accused were transferred to the prisons in Leiria and Tires.
