Three men detained for series of homicide crimes in Cascais and Amadora
The Diário de Notícias, cited by Google News PT — Crime (pt), reports that the Judicial Police detained three men aged between 18 and 21, heavily suspected of attempted and completed homicide crimes using firearms in three distinct but interconnected situations. The detentions were carried out by the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo Directorate.
The first incident occurred on 29 June of last year at a beach esplanade in Carcavelos. Following a disturbance, one of the suspects fired several shots that struck two people. He was detained in early July and, following his first judicial hearing, was subjected to preventive custody. In July of this year, he was sentenced to three years and six months in prison, suspended in execution, for attempted aggravated homicide and possession of a prohibited firearm.
The two subsequent incidents, which occurred in the city of Amadora, had direct origin in that incident in Carcavelos. On 4 April, in retaliation, a witness to the beach events was struck by a firearm shot in the abdominal region, requiring hospital treatment.
On 21 May, the father of that witness, a 43-year-old man, was struck by three firearm shots. He died in a hospital unit as a consequence of the severity of the wounds he suffered.
The three suspects are known to the victims. The investigations are directed by the Public Prosecutor's Office of the DIAP of Cascais and Amadora.
